Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten with 4-0 Shutout of HCC

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Freshman goalie Ailish Olmstead (Brockton) tallied her fourth straight shutout and Kiana Fernandes (Taunton) recorded her first career hat trick as the Massasoit women's soccer team remains unbeaten by blanking Holyoke, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Olmstead made three stops in net to improve the Warriors to 4-0-0 overall and in league play. The freshman from Brockton has posted clean sheets in all four matches this year for Massasoit in 360 minutes of action.

On the offensive side, Fernandes has now scored multiple goals in all four games this year, and with her trio on Saturday now has found the back of the net nine times during the 2021 campaign.

The victory over Holyoke (2-5-1, 2-3 R21) marks just the second time Massasoit has defeated the Cougars in the past 33 meetings dating back to 2008 season.

As for the match, Fernandes put Massasoit up early when she took a pass at the top of the 18-yard box and rocketed home her first goal of the game off a pass from Vanessa Dos Anjos (Raynham) in the 14th minute of action.

Just two minutes later, Fernades scored again, this time on a through ball break away pass from Emily Blake (Whitman), as the Warriors held the 2-0 break at intermission.

Massasoit tacked on goals int he 81st, by Sarah Campbell of Abington, and in the 90th minute by Fernandes to round out the scoring.
