Women’s Soccer Falls At Holyoke CC, 3-0

HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- The Massasoit CC women's soccer team had plenty of chances against Holyoke CC on Saturday afternoon, but was unable to cash in, falling by the final score of 3-0.

Massasoit (2-1-0) had a golden opportunity to take a lead early in the first half, but a breakaway shot by Zhandali Fontes went just over the cross bar to keep the game scoreless.

HCC broke the scoreless tie, finding the back of the net with only two seconds left prior to halftime.

The Cougars were clinging to the 1-0 lead, before scoring in the 65th minute and later tacking on an insurance goal to round out the scoring for the day.

"I thought we played with great attitude and great energy in today's game. We were playing without two key players and still fought right with a very good team in Holyoke CC," head coach Ruben Teixeira.

Next up for Massasoit is a home game on Tuesday against Bunker Hill CC. The contest is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
