Massasoit’s Ky’Jae Hargrove Earns NJCAA Women’s Basketball All-American Third Team Honors

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Freshman point guard Ky'Jae Hargrove was named an NJCAA Women's Basketball All-American Third Team selection announced this week by the national committee.

Hargrove had a standout first season with the Warriors, leading Massasoit to a No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA poll during the 2018-19 campaign for the first time in school history. Massasoit finished the year 20-3, earning the MCCAC State Championship and finishing runner's up in the Region 21 Tournament.

The New Haven, Connecticut native led the high-powered Massasoit offense in scoring, averaging 22.7 points per game and shooting an impressive 52.6 percent from the floor. Hargrove also topped the team in assists per game (4.6) and added 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals to her season stat line.

In addition, Hargrove reached double figures in 17 of 18 games played and surpassed the 30-point plateau on three occasions, including a career-high 41 points vs. Quinsigamond.

The NJCAA All-American honor marks the first by a Massasoit women's basketball player since Fredi Lawson earned the recognition back during the 2013-14 season.
