Warriors Earn Top Seed in Region 21 Women’s Basketball Tournament

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- With the conclusion of the regular season taking place last weekend, the NJCAA Region 21 Women's Basketball Tournament field has been set, with nationally-ranked Massasoit earning the top seed.

The four-team, two-day tournament, which will be hosted by Bunker Hill Community College, will take place this Saturday and Sunday in Charlestown, Mass.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Tournament top-seed and No. 2 nationally-ranked Massasoit (19-1, 12-0 R21) will face the fourth-seed Bunker Hill Bulldogs (8-12, 6-8) in the regional semifinals on Saturday at 12 PM. The other semifinal matchup features second-seed and reigning regional champion UConn-Avery Point (12-13, 10-3) and third seed Springfield Tech CC (14-13, 8-4) at 2 PM.

The regional finals will be played on Sunday at 12 PM, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament, hosted by Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pa., from March 14-16.

SERIES WITH BULLDOGS
Massasoit swept the regular season series vs Bunker Hill, winning 104-40 and 104-25, and have won nine-straight meetings vs the Bulldogs.

NATIONAL POLL
Massasoit ranks No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA poll, snapping a streak of nine-straight weeks holding the top spot. The Warriors have been ranked in 11-consecutive polls, earning a spot in every single weekly poll outside of the preseason top-10.

CENTURY CLUB
The Warriors enter the tournament, averaging 90.9 points per game and reached the 100-point plateau 10 times. The team scoring average ranks third in the country.

BALANCED ATTACK
The Massasoit offense features six players averaging in double figures, led by freshman guard Ky'Jae Hargrove's 23.5ppg.

GET AFTER THE GLASS
Massasoit tops the nation in offensive rebounds per game (24.9) and second in the country in total boards (54.4ppg).
