FALL RIVER, Mass. ---- A trio of Warriors reached double figures as the Massasoit women's basketball team rolled past Bristol, 72-49, in a road game on Thursday night.
The Warriors (3-2, 2-1) trailed after the first quarter, 13-10, but outscored Bristol (2-6, 2-3) 23-8 in the second to own a 33-21 lead at the break and keep command of the score the rest of the way.
"We got off to a slow start," Massasoit head coach Colie Trawick said. "But we bounced back and had a great second quarter. Three players got in foul trouble, but Geornaisha (Silva-Moore) and Monica (Knight) both came up big for us on both ends of the court.
"Sierra (Johnson) was a calming influence and finished well around the rim, while both Cyn (Laing) and Gabby (Boutin) played well off the bench. It was a quality win after a tough start for us."
Sophomore Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) filled up the stat sheet yet again, nearly recording her second straight triple-double. She finished with 15 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and six steals.
In the paint, freshman post player Monica Knight (Halifax) also produced an impressive performance, tallying a double-double of 16 points and pulling down a career-best 19 boards (10 offensive). Knight also blocked five shots.
Sierra Johnson (Brockton) led Massasoit in scoring, netting a team-best 17 points as the Warriors return to the hardwood on Saturday, hosting Quinsigamond at 1 PM.
