Region XXI All-Star Basketball Games Go Down To Wire

WARWICK, R.I. ---- The Region XXI All-Star basketball games for both the men and women were hosted on Wednesday night at the Community College of Rhode Island. On the women's side, the West defeated the East, 85-79, and in men's action the West squeaked past the East, 125-124.

Women's Basketball: West 85, East 79
Massasoit head coach Mark Brathwaite and the West squad overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to win 85-79.

Brathwaite, the reigning Region XXI Coach of the Year, had four Warriors on his 10-player roster to help in the second half charge.

Fredi Lawson (Boston/J.E. Burke HS) produced a big second half, just as she did all season, pouring in 10 of her 13 points after intermission. Ashley Andrade (Randolph) chipped in with eight points, Marina Palladino (Carver) added five and Tianna Johnson netted three points in the victory.

Men's Basketball: West 125, East 124
In a close game through its entirety, the West edged the East by one point, 125-124.

Massasoit's Chris Green (Taunton) and Antonio Ferreira (Stoughton) both played on the East squad. Green finished with seven points, featuring a pair of 3-pointers. Ferreira added a pair of buckets, totaling four points.
