ROXBURY, Mass. ---- Fredi Lawson (Boston/J.E. Burke HS) scored a career-high 29 points, but the Massasoit women's basketball team fell short on the road, 73-59, to Roxbury CC on Tuesday evening.
The loss dropped Massasoit to 0-3 on the young season and will next play on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. against the Springfield College JV squad.
Lawson shot an impressive 11-for-17 from the field, including 3-of-4 from downtown to account for her 29 point total. Lawson also corralled eight rebounds on the night.
Point guard Tianna Johnson (Brockton/New Mission HS) filled up the box score, scoring six points along with four rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks.
The Warriors were able to shoot a strong 51.1 percent from the floor, making 23 of 45 attempts, but connecting on only 8-of-16 free throw attempts and committed 21 turnovers, which proved to be costly in the loss.
