Warriors Drop Doubleheader at Southern Maine CC

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine ---- The Massasoit softball team opened up the 2018 campaign by dropping a pair of games at Southern Maine Community College, falling to the Seawolves, 11-0 and 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1: Southern Maine 11, Massasoit 0
SMCC scored three times in the bottom of the first and never looked back to claim the first game of a twinbill, 11-0.

Freshman Neive Doyle (Weymouth) collected her first collegiate hit in the game, while also stealing a base.

Mallory Fey (Plymouth) struck out two but was saddled with the loss for the Warriors.

SMCC starter Kristen Mackenzie allowed just one hit and struck out four in five innings to earn the victory for the Seawolves. 

Kahli Philibotte went 2-for-3 with a triple, homer and three RBI to pace the SMCC offense.

Game 2: Southern Maine 8, Massasoit 0
Deadlocked in a scorless tie through the first two innings, SMCC broke the game open, scoring four times in the third and fourth frames to claim an 8-0 win to sweep the doubleheader.

Brenna Fehan (Plymouth) collected a hit in the loss as Massasoit dropped to 0-2 on the young season.

Jazmyn Conrad (Dorchester) worked the first three innings, collecting two strikeouts in the circle for the Warriors.
