DARTMOUTH, Mass. ---- Freshman Angelo Monsini of Plymouth qualified for the NJCAA National Track & Field National Championship in both the 100- and 200-meter races to highlight the Massasoit track & field program at the Corsair Classic on Saturday.

A total of six personal bests were registered, including Sofia Cameron setting a school record in the 10,000-meter race.

Monsini placed third overall in the 200m, sprinting to a time of 23.14. His time ranks second all-time at Massasoit in the event, and ranks seventh among the 15 student-athletes that have qualified for the NJCAA Nationals in 2019.

In his first collegiate attempt at the 100m, Monsini clocked a time of 11.44 seconds, placing the freshman seventh overall. He ranks tied for sixth nationally and is one of seven student-athletes to qualify for Nationals in the 100m.

Lorenzo Espinoza (Stoughton) set a pair of personal bests at UMass-Dartmouth in both the triple jump and 200-meter race. In the triple, Espinoza leapt 12.48 meters, good for 11^th place overall. His jump distance is just 0.32 meters shy of the NJCAA qualifying standard, as his distance currently ranks 10^th overall in the nation. He also timed the 200m in 25.10 seconds, placing 47^th overall individually.

Antonio Alves of Quincy also set personal bests in the 100m (14.05) and placed 38^th overall in the javelin toss, launching it 27.85 meters.

On the women's side, Sofia Cameron of East Bridgewater set the school record in the 10,000-meter race, finishing in 55:53.23, placing the freshman sixth overall in the event.

The Warriors will compete at Fitchburg State this coming Saturday as part of the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational.
