Men’s Soccer Heads to East District Tournament in New Jersey

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's soccer team travels to Newark, N.J., to play in the NJCAA Division I East District Semifinals against Monroe College on the campus of Rutgers University on Saturday at 1 PM.

The Warriors concluded the regular season with an overall record of 10-6-2, winning the season series against CCRI to advance to the district tournament as the Region 21 representative.

Massasoit will face a formidable foe in Monroe College, which ranks No. 1 in the most recent NJCAA poll and boasts an undefeated record at 12-0-0 on the year as Region 15's representative.

If the Warriors were to defeat the Mustangs, they would face the winner of Essex County of Region 19 and CCBC Essex of Region 20, in the district finals on Sunday.

Leonardo Teixeira of Brockton tops the team in goals (20) and points (47) as the freshman is the first Warrior to score 20-plus goals in a season since 2015.

Maldini Da Fonseca (Brockton) is second on the team in goals with 12 and fellow Brockton native Esteven Gomes has dished out a team-high 10 assists on the year.

Sophomore goalie David Isaac of Haiti has started 17 of 18 games on the season, having made 85 saves on the season.
