LINCOLN, Rhode Island ---- Maldini Da Fonseca (Brockton) netted two goals and assisted on another to give the Massasoit men's soccer team a 3-0 road victory at CCRI on Tuesday night.
The win gives the Warriors an edge in the best-of-three regular season series to determine the Region 21 Division I Men's Soccer champion.
Da Fonseca broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute of action off an assist from Leonardo Teixeira (Brockton). The Brockton native then struck again in the 42nd minute as the Warriors led 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Warriors (3-5-1) tacked on an insurance goal from Mario Barbosa (Holbrook), the first of his Massasoit career.
Massasoit received a strong contest in net from keeper David Isaac (Haiti) as the sophomore made seven saves for the shutout.
The Warriors host Northern Essex on Thursday at 4 PM.
