SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ---- Sidney Cardoso (Portugal) and Ienik Spencer (Pawtucket, R.I.) each scored two goals and Estefanio Barbosa (Brockton) recorded his first career clean sheet as the Massasoit men's soccer team blanked Springfield Tech, 5-0 on Saturday.
Massasoit (7-4-2) scored early and often against the Rams (7-2-1), as Cardoso finished a pass from Spencer just six minutes into action. Blake Brailsford (Bridgewater) joined in on the scoring, netting a pass from Flavio Rosario (Brockton) at the 18-minute mark.
Spencer gave the Warriors a 3-0 cushion at the break, by scoring in the 40th minute with Will Peoples (Stoughton) earning the assist.
In the second half, Spencer and Cardoso each added their second goals, on assists from John Matareno (Seekonk) and Deivys D'Almeida (New Bedford).
In goal, Barbosa made four saves for his first career shutout.
Massasoit outshot STCC 29-7 in the victory.
