CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. ---- After a tough first round at the NJCAA Golf Nationals, Mike Cappadona (Foxboro) bounced back on day two to fire an 85 (+13) at the Chautauqua Country Club on Wednesday.

The freshman improved in his second round of the tournament by eight strokes, after shooting a 93 in the opening round on Tuesday.

"He played much better today, no doubt about it," head coach Chris Ballerini said. "I think he settled his nerves and played some solid golf. Today should provide some momentum heading into the third round."

The third round is slated for Thursday, with Cappadona's tee time yet to be announced.

Through two days of action, Cappadona owns a total score of 178 (93+85=178) and is tied for 79th overall.
