The Massasoit Community College men's basketball team opened its 2025–26 Region 21 season in impressive fashion, defeating UConn Avery Point 73–57 on the road Tuesday night. The Warriors used a balanced offensive attack and dominant rebounding effort to pull away in the second half and secure their first victory of the season.
Massasoit controlled the boards throughout the game, outrebounding the Pointers 49–31, which helped them overcome a cold shooting night from beyond the arc (22.7%). Freshman forward Christian Isom powered the Warriors with a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, earning a double-double off the bench. John Francois added 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.
Point guard Omari Brooks was steady throughout, contributing 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals, while Jahssa Estrela chipped in 12 points and 5 assists to pace the backcourt. Eliase Feagins added 10 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Despite some early foul trouble and cold shooting, the Warriors' defensive intensity and rebounding dominance proved to be the difference, holding UConn Avery Point to just 38.7% shooting from the field and 23.5% from three-point range.
Massasoit improves to 2–1 on the season and will look to keep the momentum going in Region facing off at STCC on Thursday night.
