Warriors Run Win Streak to Five with 101-89 Comeback Win vs Quincy

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Trailing by as many as 13 in the first half, the Massasoit men's basketball team rallied to capture its fifth straight victory, defeating Quincy College in impressive fashion, 101-89 on Tuesday night.

The 1-3 start to the season for Massasoit seems like a distant memory as the Warriors have won five straight and six of seven to sit at 7-4 overall and in regional play.

Trailing 41-28 in the first half, Massasoit turned things around and pulled within a point 50-49 in the closings seconds of the first half before Quincy (5-7, 3-6 R21) guard Darrius Hyppolite beat the buzzer with a 3 to give the visiting Granite a 53-49 cushion at the break.

In the second half, Massasoit utilized a balanced offensive attack, an array of defensive sets and pressure to pull away with the win.

Six student-athletes scored in double figures for the Warriors, led by 25 points from Jarice Harris (Brockton). The freshman finished with five 3-pointers, including a late trey that iced the game for the home squad.

Also reaching the 20-point plateau was freshman Sam Brown (Raynham) with 22, who went 12 for 13 at the foul line. Freshman Gilbert Minaya (Lynn) scored 15 second half points and went 11 of 12 at the line en route to 21 for the game.

Brockton's Mark Georges (12 points), Holbrook's Bobby Belezos (11) and Stoughton's Lorenzo Espinoza (10) also reached double digits in the win.

Hyppolite led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Abu Kaba with 16 in the loss.

The Warriors host Gateway on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
