SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team prevailed in a defensive battle on Saturday, as the Warriors topped Springfield Tech 66-47.

The victory gives Massasoit (13-5)  the season series sweep of the Rams (8-13, 6-10) as the Warriors are off until Feb. 6 when Roxbury comes to Brockton.

The Warriors entered Saturday allowing the lowest average opponent's point total in Region 21, which shrunk to 59.8 after holding STCC to just 47 points. In fact, the 47 points allowed marked the lowest of the season for Massasoit and third time in 2017-18 a team was held to less than 50 points for a game.

Despite a game dominated by defensive, Rael Handy (Easton) netted a game-high 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting and went a perfect 11 of 11 at the free throw line. Handy added eight rebounds and four assists to the box score.

Center Mark Munroe (Quincy) also produced for the Warriors, posting a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
