Moise, Jones Duo Leads Warriors Past Bristol, 76-62

FALL RIVER, Mass. ---- Jahleel Moise (Brockton) recorded his second triple-double of the season and Trey Jones (Mattapan) scored a career-high 29 points as Massasoit topped Bristol CC, 76-62, on Thursday night.

Moise ended the night filling up the box score yet again, this time to the tune of 10 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks. Seven of his 15 boards came on the offensive end and the sophomore eclipsed the 10-block mark for the fourth time this season.

Jones also produced on both ends of the court for Massasoit (4-5, 4-5), shooting 8-of-17 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from downtown for his game-high 29 points. The sophomore also recorded eight rebounds, eight assists, five steals and went 10-for-11 at the foul line in the victory.

"We are getting the big four – Moise, Jones, William Baker and Leland Jackson to all play comfortably together," head coach Jim Stapleton said. "Steven (McCall), Mike (Ward) and Jerome (Penn) all made big contributions for us also. The team knows now what we need to do to be successful – better focus and more intensity."

Massasoit held a commanding 43-26 lead at the break as Jones scored 13 points prior to intermission.

Leland Jackson (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Jerome Penn Jr. (10 points, 10 rebounds) each posted double-doubles, while Mike Ward of Brockton added eight points.

William Baker ran the show offensively for the Warriors, finishing with seven points, five boards, five assists and three steals.

WHY MASSASOIT WON: The Warriors shot the ball (48.4 percent) well overall, crashed the boards and shared the basketball. Five players finished with 8-or-more points in the win.

STAT OF THE GAME: Massasoit finished with a season-high 25 offensive boards as part of a season-best 56 rebounds against Bristol. Four players recorded 8-or-more boards, led by Moise's 15. The 25 offensive rebounds are 10 more than the Warriors next highest total on the year.

BLOCKING BRIGADE: Moise finished with 10 rejections against Bristol and was finally joined in the blocking category by another teammate. Entering Thursday night, Moise had all 71 blocks for Massasoit on the season. Against the Bees, Jackson tallied two blocks and Ward recorded a swat in the win.
