Newcomers Help Lead Massasoit Men's Basketball To Victory

HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- Newcomers Adusei Kusi (Quincy/Quincy HS) and Moses Lynn (Quincy/Quincy HS) produced standout games to help guide the Massasoit men's basketball team by Holyoke CC, 87-49, on Saturday afternoon.

Kusi led all scorers with 24 points, 18 coming before halftime, while Lynn nearly produced a quadruple-double to improve the Warriors to 5-5 on the season.

Lynn's stat line included 10 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists and eight blocks in just his second game of the season for Massasoit.

"Moses was key for us both offensively and defensively," head coach Jim Stapleton said. "He (Moses) was able to take up a lot of space for us in the paint defensively and had a great game. He is still getting his feet under him, since this is just his second organized game he has played in 10 years."

Lynn, 27, graduated from Quincy HS in 2004 and served in the military for two terms prior to suiting up for Massasoit this semester.

Chris Green (Taunton/Taunton HS) had another strong game on the perimeter for the Warriors, pouring in 22 points, while Khalif McCloud (Brockton/Southeastern Regional) had a big game with 14 points and five steals in the most action he has seen all season.

"We were missing some key guys today, but some others guys that have not seen a lot of playing time like Khalif, Armanii (Harden) and Mark (Georges) stepped up," Stapleton said. "We knew Khalif would be a factor for us at some point this year, and he got his chance today and did a nice job."

Massasoit held a 44-19 cushion at halftime and for the game committed a season-low five turnovers.

"I told the guys to keep to the script and move the basketball," Stapleton said. "We were able to get the ball inside to Moses and he found open guys cutting to the basket and on the perimeter. It was good to see more passing and less dribbling from the guys today. It was a solid team win."
