Roxbury's Big Second Half Sinks Massasoit MBB, 77-66


ROXBURY, Mass. ---- Chris Green (Taunton/Bridgton Academy) poured in a team-high 25 points, but a second half surge by Roxbury CC led to a 77-66 loss for the Massasoit CC men's basketball team on Thursday night.

Massasoit (5-7) held a slight lead at halftime, 32-30, but the home Tigers outscored the Warriors 47-34 over the final 20 minutes of action.

The difference in the second half was Roxbury's ability to get to the free throw line. After intermission, RCC sank 16 of 22 attempts, while Massasoit only attempted two shots from the charity stripe. Overall, RCC finished 20 of 26 at the line, compared to just 5-of-6 by the Warriors.

Green topped Massasoit in scoring, with 25 points including a trio of 3-pointers from downtown. Colin Campbell (Holbrook/Holbrook HS) added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Adusei Kusi (Quincy/Quincy HS) and Antonio Ferreira (Stoughton/Stoughton HS) each chipped with 11 points.

RCC was led by Tyrus Weaver, who totaled a game-high 35 points, 22 coming in the second half.

The Warriors return to the court on Monday, hosting Gateway CC at 3:30 p.m. in Brockton.
