BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit men's basketball team crawled its way out of a double-digit second half deficit thanks to an intense final five minutes of action. Unfortunately, the Warriors' final shot would not fall as Holyoke CC escaped with a 82-79 victory on Saturday.
Massasoit (2-4) forced a turnover down three points with 3.4 seconds left. Trey Jones (Mattapan/Reading HS) fired a potential game-tying 3-pointer that rimmed out to give the Cougars the win.
Anthony Conway (Boston/Walpole HS) netted 17 points, all in the second half, and Chris Green (Taunton/Bridgton Academy) scored a team-best 18 in the loss.
Jashawn Houston (Randolph/Randolph HS) scored 13 points off the bench and Jones chipped in with 10.
