BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit baseball team earned a critical doubleheader sweep of Holyoke, winning 4-1 and 6-1, to earn the fourth and final spot in the upcoming Region 21 Tournament.

The Warriors conclude the regular season at 10-19 overall and 6-9 in league play with the two wins vs the Cougars.

Massasoit will face top-seed CCRI on the road this Thursday with first pitch slated for 3:30 PM. The remainder of the tournament will be played at Quinsigamond CC in Worcester.

Game 1: Massasoit 4, Holyoke 1
Ian Nadeau allowed only one run in a complete game effort on the mound to defeat Holyoke 4-1 in the first game.

Nadeau went the distance, scattering nine hits, and yielding only one earned run in his seven innings of work. His outing marked his fifth complete game of the season as the Brockton native fanned three and did not walk a batter to up his record to 5-3 on the season.

HCC led 1-0 entering the fifth before the Warrior offense got things in motion. Bobby Belezos (Holbrook) ripped an RBI single and later in the inning James Sneyd (Scituate) stole home to take a 2-1 advantage.

An inning later in the sixth, Jonathan O'Donnell (Hull) brought home Nadeau with an RBI base knock and Luke DiTondo (Marshfield) plated a run with an RBI groundout to add some insurance for the Warriors.

In the seventh, the Cougars put two runners on with one out, but Nadeau induced a flyout and groundout to finish off his complete game effort.

Game 2: Massasoit 6, Holyoke 1
James Sneyd pitched the best game of his two-year career at Massasoit, as the Warriors earned the twinbill sweep.

Sneyd followed his teammate Nadeau with a complete game effort of his own. The righty from Scituate pitched seven innings and struck out seven, both career-bests, giving up only one earned run off five hits and did not walk a batter.

After single to start the game, Sneyd retired the next 12 batters in a row and never faced more than five in an inning all afternoon.

Leading 1-0 entering the bottom of the second thanks to a RBI from DiTondo in the first, Massasoit received a two-out, three-run homer from Nadeau to put Massasoit up 4-0.

Massasoit tacked on single runs in the fourth and the sixth, thanks to a sac fly by Francisco Navarro (Panama) and RBI single from Belezos.

Nadeau finished 2-for-4 including his three-run blast and O'Donnell added a pair of hits in the win.
