O’Neil Captures Top Time In Region 21 At Junior College Northeast Invitational

LINCOLN, R.I. --- Kerry O'Neil (Stoughton) of the Massasoit CC cross country team finished with the fastest time in Region 21 and placed 12th overall at the Junior College Northeast Invitational hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island.

O'Neil posted a time of 22:22.97 in the 5k race with her 12th place finish marking the best place by a cross country runner in program history.

The freshman averaged 7:12.3 per mile as a total of 28 student-athletes took part in the women's race. It also marked the second time that Massasoit raced on CCRI's cross country trail. In her second go around she saw an eight second improvement.

On the men's side, James Sepulveda (Brockton/Southeastern Voc.) sported the fifth fastest time in the region and placed 24th overall in a time of 32:56.18. A total of 31 runners ran the 8k race featuring eight junior colleges.

The cross country team is now on to the NJCAA Nationals, in which O'Neil, Sepulveda and Zach Arnold will represent the Warriors. The meet is slated for Saturday, Nov. 7 at Westfield State.
