Women’s Track Team Earns National Academic Honor

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit Community College women's track team was recognized as a NJCAA All-Academic Team announced by the National league office on Wednesday.

The Warriors, which completed their first year as a collegiate program, maintained a team grade point average of 3.28, ranking fourth in the nation amongst all NJCAA women's track programs.

During the inaugural 2014 season, Massasoit competed in three meets – Corsair Classic, Fitchburg State Invitational and the Regis Pride Classic.

At the Fitchburg State Invitational, the Warriors tallied points for the first in program history. Later in the season, Kerry O'Neil became the first Massasoit track student-athlete to qualify for NJCAA Nationals.  She finished 14th at the National Tournament in the 5,000-meter race.

Members of the women's track included: Kerry O'Neil (Stoughton), Stephanie Villanueva (Whitman) and Christarsha Young-Lemar (Brockton).
