Five Warriors Named to All-Region 21 Women’s Soccer Teams

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- A total of five Massasoit women's soccer players earned postseason accolades from Region 21, with freshman Alexandra Santos (Hanson) and sophomore Laura Nieske (Watertown) claiming spots on the first team for their efforts during the 2017 season.

A total of two 11-player All-Region 21 teams were selected as Massasoit's Courtney Foley (Holbrook), Emily White (Plympton) and Kathy Remick (Norton) garnered second team honors from the league.

Santos was an offensive machine in her first year with the Warriors, as the speedster led the team and ranked third in the region in goals (13) and points (30). She finished with four multi-goal performances and led the Massasoit offense to average 3.5 goals per game.

Nieske saw time all over the field in her first year donning the Green and White. The sophomore-transfer started the year primarily as a defender and occasional forward, before taking over as the team's goalie midway through the season. Despite playing eight games in net, Nieske finished third on the Warriors in goals (5) and points (12). In goal she made 46 saves and was a part of two shutouts.

Defenders Courtney Foley and Emily White were key contributors for the Warriors who were recognized on the second team. Foley played mainly at sweeper and White at stopper as Massasoit posted three shutouts on the season. White scored one goal and added an assist, while Foley dished out a pair of helpers for the year.

Remick played center midfield in her first year at Massasoit, leading the team in assists (7) and placing second in goals (8) and points (23). She totaled five multi-point contests and her point total also ranked fifth in the conference.
