Springfield Tech Knocks Women’s Soccer Out of Regional Tournament

HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- Springfield Tech scored bookend first half goals, to claim a 2-0 victory against the Massasoit women's soccer team in the NJCAA Region 21 Tournament Semifinals held at Holyoke Community College.

Massasoit, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, concludes the 2017 season with an overall record of 4-9-1 and 4-4-1 against divisional foes on the year.

Springfield Tech advances to the regional finals to face top seed Holyoke on Sunday at 1 PM.

The Rams scored in the fifth minute of action on a through ball to take the early 1-0 advantage in the fifth minute of action.

The score remained 1-0 until the 40th minute, when STCC would strike again, this time on a deep shot, roughly 40 yards out to take a commanding 2-0 lead at the break. Neither team would score after intermission.

Despite rifling off 25 shots, the Warriors were unable to find the back of the net, and were shutout for just the third time this season.

STCC took two of the three from the Warriors in the season series, with the other result ending in a tie.
