Sprague’s Four Goals Finishes Off Bunker Hill

BROCKTON, Mass. --- Freshman Shelby Sprague (Stoughton) put away four goals, two in each half, to keep the Massasoit women's soccer team undefeated with a 5-0 win over Region XXI foe Bunker Hill on Monday at Warrior Field.

Massasoit (6-0-1) led 2-0 at the break, as Sprague scored on a header off a cross from Delmy Brooks (Brockton) and a through ball pass from Krista Woodworth (Norton). Both goals came in the first 15 minutes of action.

After outshooting the Bulldogs 17-1 in the first half, the Warriors continued their attack on the goal after halftime. Sprague struck in the 48th minute off another cross from Brooks and later Silvia Sosa (New Milford, N.J.) connected for her first collegiate goal on a breakaway set up by Gina Nutting (Rockland).

Sprague rounded out the scoring with her fourth goal off a cross from fellow Stoughton native Courtney Wagner in the 88th minute of play, for her team-high 18th goal of the season.

Laura Ellis (Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth Voc) made one stop in goal for the shutout, marking the team's fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Warriors have now won four in a row and outscored the opposition 18-1 over that stretch.

Massasoit will step out of league play in its next match, hosting New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
