BROCKTON, Mass. ---- For the second time in as many weeks, a Massasoit CC women's soccer player was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Junior College Player of the Week. This week, goalie Laura Ellis (Raynham/Bristol-Plymouth Voc) garnered the honor.

Ellis posted a 0.90 goals against average for the week as the sophomore goalie led Massasoit to a 1-0-1 record. Ellis started the week making two saves in a 7-0 shutout of Bunker Hill.

She followed up that performance with one of her best showings of her career as a Warrior. Against the No. 10 Holyoke Cougars, the keeper made a career-high 17 saves in a 2-2 tie. After allowing two goals in the first half, Ellis shutout the Cougars over the final 67:36 as the game went two overtime periods. The sophomore held HCC to just two goals after the Cougars had netted 18 over two matches earlier in the week. In addition, the play of Ellis helped snap a 16-match losing streak to Holyoke.

In total, Ellis made 19 saves on 21 shots on goal, for a 90.5 save percentage.

Ellis joins teammate Shelby Sprague, who earned the NSCAA honor last week.
