Women’s Soccer Hosts Rival No. 10 Holyoke On Saturday

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The Massasoit CC women's soccer team will host arch rival and nationally ranked Holyoke CC on Saturday at Warrior Field. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.

Massasoit enters Saturday's contest 2-0, with victories over Monroe College JV and Bunker Hill CC. For the season, the Warriors have outscored their competition, 14-5, with Shelby Sprague accounting for half of the team's goals.

Sprague, who is the reigning NSCAA National Junior College Player of the Week, has seven goals on the season. She netted a hat trick in the win over Monroe and followed that up with a four-goal performance in the win over Bunker Hill.

Holyoke CC, ranked No. 10 in the most recent NJCAA National Poll, has already played seven matches on the season, sporting a record of 4-1-2 on the year.

Overall, HCC has scored 25 goals and yielded only five. Of the goal total, 18 came this past week with a pair of 9-0 victories against Bunker Hill and Springfield Tech.

The Warriors will be looking to avenge last season's 2-0 loss to the Cougars in the Region XXI Championship. In fact, HCC owns a 6-0 record against Massasoit over the past two seasons, defeating the Warriors both times in the regional finals.
