HOLYOKE, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's soccer team held a 1-0 lead late into the second half, but Holyoke CC netted two goals in the final seven minutes to snap the Warriors four-game win streak on Saturday afternoon.

Massasoit (4-3, 3-1) took a 1-0 lead at the half when Gina Nutting (Rockland) snuck one past the HCC keeper with 1:30 left in the opening stanza. Zhandali Fontes (Taunton) recorded the assist on the play.

The Warriors held the lead in the second half up until the 83rd minute when Nicole Callini scored for the Cougars to tie the game off a free kick. Three minutes, Callini netted what proved to be the game winner in the 86th minute of action.

Laura Ellis (Raynham) made five saves in net for Massasoit in the loss.

WHY MASSASOIT LOST: In what was a fairly even game throughout the contest, outside of Callini buried a pair of deep goals for the difference. The Warriors were limited with opportunities on offense, getting off just six shots.

NUTTING NETS GOAL: Gina Nutting netted her second goal of the season in Saturday's loss. The freshman's other goal came at Bristol CC back on Sept. 11.

CLOSE CONTEST: Massasoit fell to HCC for the fourth consecutive time over the past two seasons. Saturday's was the closest contest during that stretch and Nutting's goal was the first against the Cougars during that span. Massasoit fell at HCC last season in the Region XXI Championship, 2-0.

NEXT UP: Massasoit hosts Dean College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
