BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Massasoit freshman Kayla Gomes was named NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Week, recently announced by the national office.
Gomes, a native of Halifax, produced an outstanding week up top for the Warriors. The forward finished with four goals and three assists as Massasoit earned victories against Bristol CC and the Monroe College JV team.
Gomes took a total of 11 shots, nine of which came on goal and four attempts ending in goals.
In addition, Gomes scored two goals in each contest and found the back of the net in each of the team's first four games.
Since the weekly national award was announced, Gomes has kept her scoring streak alive netting seven more goals in Massasoit's last two games. For the season she has 13 goals and five assists as the Warriors have now won four straight games.
In Massasoit's most recent victory, Gomes netted a career-high four goals and dished out an assist.
