BEYOND THE ATHLETE: Clarissa Goddard

BEYOND THE ATHLETE: Clarissa Goddard

by Ben Warnick, Assistant Athletics Director

When Clarissa Goddard graduates from Massasoit CC, a piece of her work will always be on the Brockton campus.

That piece of work, is a piece of art.

Goddard, who plays on the women's soccer team, has been instrumental in helping the Warriors to their success this season. But it's not an instrument that she plays when not studying or out on the soccer field.

It's a paintbrush she uses to showcase her true passion.

"I was always really big into drawing, but during my junior year of high school I took my first painting class. I had already taken all the drawing classes I could, so then I moved onto painting and ever since then I've been all about it," Goddard said.

Goddard was approached on campus when she was walking around with a couple of her paintings for a class. She was asked if she was willing to donate one of her pieces to the Humanities building by Professor Rolly Blanchette.

"It was very exciting to have a piece of my work displayed. I always wanted to have one of my paintings hung up in the H Building with all the other paintings," Goddard said with a grin.
The artwork that Goddard donated is entitled "Angelfish" and showcases a pair of colorful angelfish swimming in the ocean near a coral reef.

Goddard might not be able to stay on Massasoit's campus forever, but a piece of her art work might.
