SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ---- The Massasoit Community College women's soccer team punched its ticket to the Region XXI Tournament finals with a 2-1 road victory over Springfield Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Massasoit improved to 6-8-0 with the victory and will take on Holyoke Community College in the conference tournament finals next weekend.
The Warriors received their first goal from Katie Arnold (Weymouth), and top goal scorer Melanie Thompson (Middleboro) netted what proved to the game-winner with her 15th goal of the season.
"The conditions were not the best today. The field was wet and muddy, but we were able to overcome and really play well together. We were connecting passes and were the better team today. I'm so proud of the team and the most important thing is that we won and will be playing in the tournament finals next weekend," head coach Ruben Teixeira said.
