LINCOLN, R.I. ---- The Community College of Rhode Island used an early penalty kick and did not look back, defeating the Massasoit Community College women's soccer team, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss dropped Massasoit to an even 5-5 on the season.

"Despite the loss it was a good experience for us playing a quality opponent like CCRI," head coach Ruben Teixeria said. "We defended well at times and had some strong moments today, but CCRI was just the better team today."

The Knights outshot the Warriors 39-3 overall, and 24-2 in the first half.

Kristin Reardon (Weymouth) made 16 saves in the net for the Warriors.

Massasoit will play a pair of games over the weekend at the Essex CC Tournament in Newark, N.J. over the weekend. The first match is slated for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
