Lady Warriors Buzz By Bristol CC, 6-0

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Ashley Westover (Stoughton, Mass.) and Zhandali Fontes (Taunton, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals and keeper Kristin Reardon (Weymouth, Mass.) posted her second shutout in as many games as the Massasoit CC women's soccer team defeated Bristol CC, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

"It was a great team performance and it is exciting for our team to start off 2-0. The girls are playing with a ton of confidence and it showed today in the win. Everyone played well together and they communicated. Our shots were on frame and in this (hot) weather, I couldn't be proud with the team's effort," head coach Ruben Teixeira said.

Stephanie Villanueva (Whitman, Mass.) started off the scoring frenzy for the Warriors (2-0) netting a goal in the 17th minute of action. Fontes recorded the first of her two goals on the day on a pass from Marissa Peele (Norwood, Mass.) in the 28th minute.

To close out the first half, Westover buried a free kick from 25 yards out to give Massasoit a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

After intermission, Westover nailed her second free kick for a goal, this time from 40 yards out, while Fontes and Erin Doyle (Weymouth, Mass.) scored to round out the 6-0 victory.

Reardon recorded her second shutout of the season, matching her total from last season, as she made five stops in the Massasoit net.

"I had a lot of help from the defense today. I thought our back line played really well for us and stepped up," Reardon said. "We played hard and had a great game offensively even with the heat."

The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, with a trip to Holyoke CC. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
