BROCKTON, Mass. --- Ty Hawkins poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the undefeated No. 2 ranked Massasoit women's basketball team past Union County College (New Jersey), 61-51 on Saturday afternoon at the Asiaf Field House.
Massasoit improved to 15-0 on the season with the victory, while the NJCAA Division II Union County Owls drop to 13-7.
Hawkins netted 28 points, 16 coming in the second half for the Warriors. Aliza Bell and Ranasha Fraizer each netted 10 in the victory and Shardajah Collins chipped in with eight points.
The game appeared to be a run away after the first quarter, as Massasoit led the Union County 16-3.
In the second quarter, the visiting Owls woke, outscoring the Warriors 28-10 in the second stanza to own a 31-26 lead at the break.
Following intermission, Massasoit used a 19-8 scoring spurt in the third to create separation and earn the win.
The Warriors are off until a road trip to Springfield Tech on Thursday.
