Massasoit Dominates UCAP in Clash of Nationally Ranked Teams, 86-40

GROTON, Conn. ---- The third-ranked Massasoit women's basketball team utilized a balanced scoring attack and held the 10th-ranked UConn-Avery Point offense to 50 points below its season average as the Warriors earned an 86-40 road victory on Saturday.

Massasoit remains undefeated with the win, improving to 8-0 on the season.

Ty Hawkins finished a team-best 26 points as all five starters for the Warriors scored in double figures.

Shardajah Collins netted 21 points and added nine rebounds and Adrianna Grant recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards.

Alyson Reid nearly posted a triple-double in the win, tallying 11 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals.

Aliza Bell chipped in with 10 points and eight boards and Ranasha Fraizer added six points.

Massasoit jumped out to a 32-18 first quarter lead and held UCAP to just 22 points over the final three quarters of action. The Warriors outscored the Pointers 22-5 in the second stanza to own a 52-23 halftime advantage.

The Warriors held UCAP to just 40 points on the afternoon, as the Pointers entered Saturday averaging 90.8 per contest.
