Second Half Surge Boosts Women’s Basketball by CCBC Cantonsville, 68-50

CANTONSVILLE, Maryland ---- Trailing at the half, the Massasoit women's basketball team used a 16-6 run in the third quarter to surge past CCBC Cantonsville, 68-50, on Saturday.

Massasoit (5-0) trailed 31-30 at the half, before outscoring the Cardinals 38-19 in the second half, shooting 54.8 percent from the floor after intermission.

The Warriors featured a balanced scoring attack, as all seven players scored six-or-more points, led by a team-high 15 points from Ky'Jae Hargrove (New Haven, Conn.).

Next in the scoring department was Shania Shorter (Hartford, Conn.) with 12 points and three Warriors just missed double-doubles in Shania Osborne (12 points, 8 rebounds), Alyson Reid (8 points, 10 rebounds) and Nina Robinson (8 points, 9 rebounds).

The swarming Massasoit defense held the Cardinals to just a 28.1 shooting percentage, making only 16 of 57 attempts.

Cantonsville, an NJCAA Division II program from Region 20, was led offensively by Akirra Pullen's 17 points.
