CONCORD, N.H. ---- The Massasoit women's basketball team exploded in the third quarter to erase what was a 17-point halftime deficit to two points, but the Warriors ran out of steam in the fourth, falling on the road at NHTI, 61-41, on Saturday afternoon.

Massasoit (3-7) trailed 38-11 at the break, after only scoring two points in the opening quarter.

However, the Warriors caught fire in the third, outscoring the Lynx 26-11 to pull within a single basket entering the fourth, 39-37.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Massasoit would get, as NHTI went on a burst of its own in the final period on the way to the 61-41 victory.

Sierra Johnson (Brockton) paced the Warriors with a team-high 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting, along with seven rebounds. Courtney Foley (Holbrook) added 10 points and Sasha Gagnon (Brockton) pulled down 11 boards in the loss.

Massasoit struggled from the field, making only 16 of 60 shots (26.7 percent).

NHTI (8-4) was led by Michaela Biron's 24 points.

The Warriors face the University of Maine at Augusta on Sunday at 10 AM on the NHTI campus.
