Women’s Basketball Hosts Bristol in MCCAC State Semifinals, Wednesday

BROCKTON, Mass. ----- The Massasoit women's basketball team will host Bristol CC on Wednesday at 6 PM in a semifinal matchup of the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) State Tournament. The winner will advance to the MCCAC Championship to face Roxbury CC on Sunday at 12 PM, hosted by Quinsigamond CC.

Massasoit enters Wednesday with a 10-9 overall record and 8-5 against divisional opponents. The Warriors have defeated Bristol (7-15, 5-8) on two occasions by the scores of 72-49 on Dec. 1 and 81-54 on Feb. 14.

The Warriors boast a balanced offensive lineup, with six players averaging 8.1 or more points. Sophomores Tati Dias and Geornaisha Silva-Moore, both from Brockton, have filled up the stat sheet all season for Massasoit. Dias averages a team-high 12.4 points to go along with 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.0 steals per contest.

Silva-Moore pours in 12.2 points on average and adds 8.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.2 steals to the box score.

Newcomer Monica Knight of Halifax has been a strong post presence for the Warriors, averaging a double-double (11.9 points, 11.8 rebounds). Natascha Elias and Sierra Johnson, Brockton natives, also average over 10 points per contest.

Bristol features three players who tally north of 13 points per game in Megan Parish (13.9), Shannon Rosentsteel (13.6) and Katia Luna (13.2).
