NEWPORT, R.I. ---- Navy Prep utilized a big first half to upend the Massasoit women's hoops team, 79-56, on Tuesday night.
Navy Prep led 48-24 at the half, including a second quarter that Massasoit (5-10) was outscored 22-9.
"Navy we very well coached and disciplined," head coach Taryn Johnson said. "We really struggled defensively and Navy shot well in the first half. They had some tough girls and we just got out worked."
Massasoit was only outscored by one point in the second half, 33-32, but the first half deficit proved too much to overcome.
Natascha Elias (Brockton) and Laura Malley (Halifax) shared top scoring honors, each netting 14. For Malley, it marked a career-high in points as she also pulled down seven boards. Elias drained four 3-pointers.
