Massasoit Runs Out Of Steam At Dean, 70-46

FRANKLIN, Mass. ---- The Massasoit women's basketball team hung right with the Dean Bulldogs, but ran out of steam in the second half, falling on the road 70-46.

Massasoit (0-2) led 30-26 at the break as Geornaisha Silva-Moore (Brockton) netted 10 of her game and career-high 25 points in the first half.

In the second half, the Bulldogs amped up the pressure, outscoring the Warriors 24-10 in the third quarter. With the score knotted at 33-all, Dean went on a 13-0 run to lead 48-33 with just over two minutes to play in the third.

On the first possession of the fourth, Silva-Moore continued to have the hot hand, draining her fourth 3 of the night, to bring the Warriors within single digits. But the Bulldogs found plenty of easy baskets, closing out the game on a 20-3 run.

Tatiana Dias and Natascha Elias, both from Brockton, each netted seven points in the loss. Laura Malley of Halifax finished with six points and a team-best 11 rebounds.
