BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomore Tiana McQueen buried a game-winning, fade-away baseline jumper with two seconds left to give the Massasoit women's basketball team a 43-42 victory over the Lincoln College of New England on Thursday.

Trailing 42-41 with 5.6 seconds left, the Warriors forced a turnover underneath their own basket. The turnover set the stage for McQueen's heroic heave as Massasoit earned its first victory of the season.

"It was a big shot by Tiana McQueen and an overall good team win," first year head coach Taryn Johnson said. "It was a close game all game. Our main focus going into the game was to stay out of foul trouble, which we did.  That allowed us to play more aggressive defense in the second half, face guarding and keeping the ball out of the hands of Lincoln's best player as much as we could."

McQueen finished tied with Stephanie Robbins (Marshfield) for team-high honors with 15 points. McQueen also pulled down 16 rebounds for her 12th double-double in 14 games this season. She also shot 7-for-11 from the field.

Robbins' 15 points marked her sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season, as 11 came in the second half.

Marrissa Spivey (Brockton) added 14 rebounds for the Warriors.

"I'm proud of the resilience these girls displayed," Johnson said. "A lot of our shots weren't falling and we struggled on offense against their 1-2-2 zone, but we found a way. They wanted to win today's game at the start of practice yesterday. They deserved this win and I'm so happy for them."

The Warriors shot just 32.3 percent (20-for-62) from the floor, but committed a season-low 11 turnovers.

Amariah Brown paced Lincoln with 20 points, featuring five 3-pointers. Brown scored 14 of the team's 21 points in the second half.

Massasoit returns to the court on Monday against Gateway College. The contest is slated for 1 p.m.
