Slow Start Sinks Women’s Basketball At NHTI, 77-53

CONCORD, N.H. ---- Tiana McQueen (Mattapan) poured in a career-high 27 points, but a scoring dry spell in the first half proved to be costly as the Massasoit women's basketball fell to NHTI, 77-53.

McQueen made a career-best 11 field goals on 19 attempts, along with seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks for Massasoit (0-8).

Also putting up an impressive stat line was newcomer Bryn Coulsey (Rockland). The freshman post player netted 16 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for a double-double.

Stephanie Robbins (Marshfield) chipped in with eight points in the loss.

Massasoit fell behind early, as NHTI went on a big run start off the contest and hold a 38-16 cushion at the break.

Despite only being outscored 39-37 in the second half, the big first half lead for NHTI proved to be too much to overcome for the Warriors.

NHTI (7-7) was led offensively by Haley Jakubens (26 points, 10 rebounds) and Danielle Kimball (24 points, eight assists). Kimball buried 6-of-12 3-pointers in the victory.
