First Semester Highlights For Massasoit Hoops

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- With the holiday season upon on us, the Massasoit men's and women's basketball teams have plenty to look forward with the New Year approaching.

Here is a look at some highlights and notes about both Warrior basketball teams through the first semester.

Men's Basketball
Overall Record: 5-6
Region XXI Record: 5-6
Divisional Record: 1-1

Highlights
• Finished the semester 4-2 after starting 1-4, with the lone win being a forfeit by Springfield Tech.

• Leads all NJCAA Division II teams in blocks per game (9.3) thanks to Jahleel Moise's 9.0 swats a contest.

• Produced one NJCAA Division II Player of the Week – Trey Jones, who averaged 27.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 6.3 steals in a perfect 3-0 week (Dec. 1-9).

• Moise has totaled three triple-doubles on the season and swatted 10-or-more blocks in five games.

• Totaled 31 steals in a win against Quinsigamond, including a career-high 13 swipes by William Baker.

• Defeated rival CCRI at home thanks to double-doubles from Moise and Leland Jackson and a game-high 24 points from Jones.

Women's Basketball
Overall Record: 0-6
Region XXI Record: 0-6
Divisional Record: 0-5

Highlights
Tiana McQueen has recorded a double-double in all six games, and posted a triple-double in the last contest of the semester – 13 points, 24 rebounds, 12 blocks.

• Led Quinsigamond at halftime, 22-16, but finished the game with only three players due to foul outs in a 47-39 loss.

Stephanie Robbins topped Massasoit with 14 points in the loss to the Wyverns.

• McQueen leads the team in scoring average (16.3) and ranks third in blocks (4.5) and sixth in rebounds (14.3) amongst all NJCAA Division III student-athletes.

• Massasoit played all six games with at most six student-athletes at a contest. The Warriors are expected to add three players for the second semester.
