Women’s Hoops Falls Short Against Quinsigamond, 47-39

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Sophomore Tiana McQueen (Boston) posted her first career triple-double, but the Massasoit women's basketball team ran out of steam down the stretch, falling to Quinsigamond CC, 47-39 on Saturday.

McQueen finished with 13 points and recorded career-bests in rebounds (24) and blocks (12) en route to her impressive stat line.

Stephanie Robbins (Marshfield) topped the Warriors with 14 points and eight boards. Laura Ellis (Raynham) added eight points and five assists, while Oliva Curtin (Abington) chipped in with four points and nine rebounds.

Massasoit (0-6) used a 10-0 run early in the first half and held a 22-16 lead the break.

The Wyverns fought back and eventually tied the game at 35-all with 6:11 remaining.

The Warriors, playing with just five student-athletes, had Ellis foul out at the six-minute mark. Quinsigamond closed out the game on a 12-4 run to claim the victory.

Massasoit is off until Jan. 8 when the Warriors host Bristol CC at 5 p.m.
