Softball Places Five on All-Region 21 Team

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- The All-Region 21 Softball Team was recently announced, with five student-athletes from Massasoit earning recognition.

The Warriors finished the season 5-10, captured their first Region 21 crown since 2013 and advanced the NJCAA District H Tournament, before falling to Anne Arundel Community College.

The members of the Massasoit softball team that earned postseason recognition included: Courtney Foley (Holbrook), Karen Snow (Duxbury), Mallory Fey (Plymouth), Neive Doyle (Weymouth) and Jazmyn Conrad (Dorchester).

Foley hit a robust .516 during his sophomore season, as the lefty saw time in both the outfield and infield for the Warriors. She led the team in runs scored (14) and clubbed four extra-base hits. Defensively, she only committed one error all year.

Controlling the shortstop position for much of the 2018 season was freshman Jazmyn Conrad. The Dorchester native led the team in hits (17), tied for the team-high in RBI (12) and finished second in runs scored (13), while hitting at a .405 clip.

A two-way player, pitcher/infielder Mallory Fey was a vital part of the Warriors' success this past season. Fey posted a 4-3 record, striking out 32 and walking only nine in 38.1 innings of work. She compiled seven complete games and made eight appearances in the circle. At the plate, Fey scored 10 runs and clubbed her first career homer in a victory vs NECC.

Karen Snow was another versatile player for the Warriors, seeing time in the outfield and first base. The sophomore hit .324, scored seven runs and knocked in five on the season.

Rounding the five all-region selections is freshman backstop Neive Doyle. The freshman was a mainstay behind the dish for the Warriors, hitting .366 and tying for team-high honors with 12 RBI.
