Softball Drops Doubleheader to Southern Maine CC to Close Out Regular Season

BROCKTON, Mass. ---- Despite owning a lead in both games, the Massasoit softball team came up short, falling to Southern Maine CC, 13-4 and 10-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

Massasoit closes out the regular season at 5-9 overall and will await its NJCAA District Tournament opponent and location of the tourney to be determined this weekend. The tournament will be held on May 5-6.

Game 1: Southern Maine CC 13, Massasoit 4
Leading 3-0 after one inning, SMCC woke up to score 13 runs over the next four frames to defeat the Warriors 13-4 in the doubleheader opener.

Courtney Foley (Holbrook) finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Jazmyn Conrad (Dorchester) knocked in a pair as part of a 2-for-3 day at the dish.

Game 2: Southern Maine CC 10, Massasoit 6
Courtney Foley roped three more hits, but SMCC scored six times over the last two innings to escape with a 10-6 win.

Along with her 3-for-4 at the plate, Foley scored three times and knocked in two. Jazmyn Conard ripped two hits including a triple, Laura Nieske (Watertown) posted two hits and two runs scored and Karen Snow (Duxbury) added a triple to highlight the offense.
