Warriors Come Close to National Cuts at SNHU Penmen Relays

HOOKSETT, New Hampshire ---- The Massasoit men's track & field team posted eight top-15 finishes at the Penmen Relays hosted by Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon.

The Penmen Relays marked the first-ever meet hosted by SNHU on their brand new track facility.

The best finish for the Warriors was by Jerry Dixon (Danvers) in the high jump, claiming seventh place overall with a best leap of 1.81m. The sophomore was just .02 away from reaching the NJCAA National qualifying standard.

Freshman Hansen Bastia (Brockton) tied the school record in the triple jump, traveling 12.22m, good for ninth place in the event.

Fellow freshman Lorenzo Espinosa (Stoughton) placed 11th in the triple jump (11.79m) and Eddy Fong (Brockton) took home 12th in the 110m high hurdles (17.55).

Kevin Baldwin nearly broke his own school record in the 800m, clocking a time of 2:08.89, less than a second from his personal best, as he took 14th in the event.

The Warriors also placed ninth in the 4x100m relay with Bastia, Dixon, Espinoza and Fong tallying a time of 48.02 seconds.

Next up for the Warriors is the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday.
