Warriors Compete at Corsair Classic Track & Field Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. ---- Julian Polynice (Brockton) broke the school record in the 400-meter high hurdles and Massasoit posted five top-10 finishes on the men's side at the Corsair Classic Invitational on Sunday.

Polynice bolted his way to a 400m high hurdle time of 1:00.74, shattering the Massasoit record by over five seconds to place 10th. The freshman's time just missed qualifying for NJCAA Nationals, falling just .24 seconds short.

In addition, Polynice performed strongly in a pair of jumping events, placing seventh in the high jump (1.78m) and 15th in the long jump (5.52m).

Sophomore Liam Brennan of Middleboro also competed in two jumping events, taking seventh in the triple jump, bounding 11.24 meters and ranking 23rd in the long jump (5.32m).

Freshman Eddy Fong (Brockton) also registered a top-10 finish, placing eighth in the 110m high hurdles in 17 seconds flat. Fong also posted a 100m time of 12.13.

Fellow freshman Christian Hill (Stoughton) also sprinted in the 100m race, clocking a time of 12.38 seconds.

As a team, Massasoit placed fifth in the 4x100 relay in 47.72 seconds as the men's team finished in 13th place out of 18 teams in total points with nine.

On the women's side, Deja Houston (Taunton) competed in the long jump, leaping to an 18th place finish.

The Warriors return to the track on Saturday to battle at the Smith Pioneer Invitational held at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
