BOSTON ---- Two more individuals from the Massasoit track & field team qualified for the NJCAA National Championship and eight more school records were broken by the Warriors this weekend at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational.
Nick Vaughn (Kingston) qualified for Nationals in the 100m dash for the second consecutive season. The sophomore sprinter finished 16th overall at the meet, clocking a time of 11.42.
In the field events, freshman Aaron Prescott of Carver, broke his own school record and qualified in the discus toss, registering a distance of 35.62 meters. Prescott finished ninth overall in the event.
For the women, Karlyvelle Ladouceur (Winter Park, Fla.) continued her strong freshman campaign in the sprint races, breaking her own school records in the 100m (12.63) and 200m (26.17). Her times placed Ladouceur sixth and 10th in the events. Her 100m time is the fifth fastest amongst all NJCAA Division III student-athletes, while her 200m mark ranks seventh.
Freshman Liam Brennan (Middleboro) broke his own school records in the 110m and 400m hurdles, recording personal-best times of 17.00 (4th place) and 1:05.85 (8th place), respectively.
Other records that were surpassed on Saturday, included Kevin Baldwin (San Jose, Calif.) claiming Massasoit's best time ever in the 800m in 2:10.64, good for 24th overall at the meet. In addition, Mitch Vaughn (Kingston) set a new school record in the triple jump, launching 11.3 meters.
Lastly, the 4x100 relay team on the men's side consisting of N. Vaughn, Tevon Springer (Sharon), Brennan and Justin Bean (Foxboro) broke the school mark by almost two seconds, claiming sixth place in a blazing time of 43.85 seconds. That time also ranks the sixth fastest in the NJCAA Division III ranks.
